Margulies is a familiar face on British television for her role as Nurse Carole Hathaway in the American medical drama ER.
She has been nominated for six straight Emmy awards for the role and twice won the Screen Actors Guild best actress award for the series.
Early film roles included Gurinder Chadha's ensemble drama What's Cooking?, Richard Linklater's The Newton Boys and Bruce Beresford's Paradise Road.
On stage, she has appeared in both off-Broadway and in LA's premiere of The Vagina Monologues as well as other productions including The Lover and Dan Drift.
Recent film roles include Steven Beck's enjoyable thriller Ghost Ship and she reunited with Australian director Beresford for the cloying Evelyn.
