Barbet Schroeder

Schroeder is an Iranian born critic, writer, photojournalist, jazz impresario, director and producer, who has also featured in a number of his films.
When Schroeder settled in France at the age of eleven, his interest in motion pictures was ignited.
In 1962 he and Eric Rohmer formed Les Films du Losange, a production company that oversaw the Rohmer's films, beginning with the short, La Boulangere de Monceau, which Schroeder narrated.
Schroeder directed his first feature, More in 1969, and throughout the 70's and 80's his work became more widely recognised and acclaimed.
In 1987 he directed and produced Barfly, which he followed with 1990's Reversal of Fortune - a drama about Claus von Bulow's trial for the attempted murder of his socialite wife.
Jeremy Irons, who starred in the film, won a Best Actor Oscar for his role, and Schroeder was nominated for a Best Director Academy Award.
Another English language thriller was his next successful project - Single White Female - has become a cult classic.
In 1996 Schroeder teamed up with Meryl Streep and Liam Neeson in the family drama Before and After, and in the same year he portrayed the president of France in Mars Attacks!
Most recently Schroeder directed Murder by Numbers, a thriller about two high school students who commit a murder and are tracked by an FBI profiler.
