The actress reached an international audience opposite Nicolas Cage in the romantic fantasy The Family Man.

Elizabeth Téa Pantaleoni developed an interest in acting at an early age - encouraged by her grandmother, a Broadway performer.

She dropped out of college to tour the world and once back in the US, was cast in the unsuccessful pilot Angels '88, a remake of Charlie's Angels.

She made her film debut in 1991 in Blake Edwards' Switch, and gained rave reviews for her portrayal of a flamboyant blonde bombshell in the sitcom Flying Blind.

Subsequent roles included Penny Marshall's A League of their Own (in which she accidentally clubbed Madonna with a baseball).

In 1994, Leoni landed the title role in the TV movie The Counterfeit Contessa and co-developed the idea for the series The Naked Truth.

She followed this with the role of Sally in Wyatt Earp, Michael Bay's action comedy Bad Boys and the romantic comedy Flirting With Disaster.

In 1998, Leoni played a newswoman who discovers that Earth is about to be destroyed by a meteor in Deep Impact.

By the time of its release, she had married X-Files actor David Duchovny, and she took a break for motherhood, to give birth to their daughter Madelaine.

Next up was The Family Man followed by the decent sequel Jurassic Park III with Sam Neill and William H Macy.

In 2002, she appeared in Woody Allen's disappointing Hollywood Ending and the romantic comedy People I Know with Al Pacino and Kim Basinger.

Recent work includes the remake of the George Segal/Jane Fonda comedy Fun With Dick and Jane alongside Jim Carrey.
