In 1940 Laurel and Hardy returned to producer Hal Roach with whom they'd made their best films for two short features, 'A Chump at Oxford' and 'Saps at Sea'. A burlesque on 'A Yank at Oxford', this joyous comedy finds the boys given the chance of an Oxford education after foiling a gang of bank robbers. But they soon become the butt of endless practical jokes from a gang of bullies led by Peter Cushing, in one of his earliest screen roles. The material is delightful in both sections and even touching at the end. Certainly the last great Laurel and Hardy comedy.
