Thora began her acting career in adverts at the age of four.

She moved into TV, and two years later she debuted on the big screen in Purple People Eater with Ned Beatty.

This won her the Youth in Film Award for Best Actress and led to her first major role in Paradise, opposite Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith.

It wasn't until 1994 that Thora secured her first starring role in Monkey Trouble.p> Academy Award winning American Beauty came along in 1999 and along with Mena Suvari and Wes Bentley, she soared from being a relatively unknown young actress to a sought-after Hollywood starlet.

The millennium year saw her in Dungeons and Dragons and playing the lead role in The Hole.
