A hard-hitting picture of street life on Hollywood Boulevard. Dermot Mulroney heads an amazing cast as a 21-year-old who leads a gang of runaways who live in an arch beneath the freeway. Their money comes from begging, stealing car stereos, selling drugs and occasional prostitution. The gang includes some good, up-and coming new talent like Balthazar Getty, Will Smith, David Arquette, Sean Astin and Lara Flynn Boyle as a pretty newcomer from Chicago. It is stylishly directed by Marc Rocco and superbly photographed by King Baggot - and that's the major flaw. The landscape. . the fast-moving lifestyle... the good-looking guys... add up to a far too romantic picture of the grim realities of street life in Hollywood or your home town. Still, you can always watch out for Christian Slater, Laura San Giacomo, Alyssa Milano and Rachel Ticotin in guest roles.
