Atmospherically shot in Glasgow and on the Dubh Loch, this prizewinning film, backed by the Scottish Film Production fund, centres on the funeral of a veteran of the International Brigade who fought in the Spanish Civil War. It won the Best Newcomer Award at the 1986 Celtic Film Festival for its director Gillies Mackinnon, also picking up the First Scottish Film Prize at the Edinburgh Festival in the same year.
