Not exactly the blast of laughter you'd expect from a teaming of Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn, this is an inconsequential romantic comedy that's good for a few chuckles but rather more yawns. Martin's a stuck-in-a-rut architect whose girlfriend (Dana Delany) turns him and his dream house down. Rebounding to a one-night stand with waitress Hawn, Martin arrives at the (empty) house one day to find that Hawn has moved in, having convinced his parents and the whole town that they're married. Martin and Hawn never make you believe in their attraction for one another, and you keep thinking he should marry Delany until the script makes her turn around into a bit of a bitch. The usually reliable director Frank Oz must shoulder most of the blame for the lack of mirth in this misfired mismatch.
