This was the first film from Don Bluth and fellow Disney animators who tired of the way the American studio was penny pinching on their feature length films and set up in exile in Ireland.

The story of a mother mouse desperately trying to save her family from a farmer's plans to plough over their home, is beautifully animated but strangely uninvolving because of a weak script.

The assembled voice cast is outstanding, including Derek Jacobi, Dom DeLuise, Shannen Doherty and Wil Wheaton.
