Ronny Yu

Action director Yu came to international attention with the Chinese martial arts fable The Bride With White Hair in 1993.
The movie and its sequel won him awards in the Far East for best screenplay, best cinematographer and best director.
Born in Hong Kong, he lived in England and then graduated from the University of Ohio and became a production assistant for ABC News in Washington.
He returned to Hong Kong in 1975 and worked on a number of movies, including The Saviour, The Postman Strikes Back and China White.
Returning to the States, he helmed Bride of Chucky in 1998 and Chasing Dragon the following year.
He filmed the Liverpudlian gangster caper The 51st State with Samuel L Jackson and Robert Carlyle in 2001.
Recent work includes Freddy vs Jason, a horror movie which pits the two celluloid serial killers against one another.
