A predictable tale of an ageing cowboy's last stand, given a Rocky-style treatment. This family drama/Western bears many resemblances to Sam Peckinpah's neglected feature, Junior Bonner. Scott Glenn is the cowboy who, in the opening sequence, is stomped into the dust while working as a rodeo clown. To recover from his injuries he goes back home where he finds everything in ruins: his father's in a home, his sister wants to sell the farm and his ex-girlfriend has been left alone to raise her two children. To save them all and redeem himself in the bargain Glenn goes into training for a date with the meanest bull of them all... The performances are all okay, and although they have little to do, the supporting cast has Mickey Rooney and such stalwart Western actors as Clu Gulager, Dub Taylor and Dennis Fimple.
