The Getaway

Gun-blasting violence and graphic sex enliven this exciting remake of Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw's 1972 chase thriller about a bank robber who plans one last heist, so he can retire in luxury with his gorgeous blonde accomplice and wife. Another real-life couple - Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger - star this time and it proves an excellent vehicle for them. Baldwin makes a stalwart hero, but Basinger is on fire and Jennifer Tilly is a showstopper as a vet's wife who gets hooked on pursuing villain Michael Madsen. Action fans will just love all the shoot-outs. Basinger and Baldwin divorced in February 2002 and a bitter two-year custody battle followed over their daughter.
