This film, which has already aroused controversy in the United States, portrays with stark realism the catastrophe of a nuclear confrontation and its devastating effect on a group of average American citizens living in the Kansas City area. The principal role goes to Jason Robards as a respected heart surgeon who must put all his medical skills to the test when, after the attack, he finds himself trapped in a small hospital. The production contains the following advice: `Although based on scientific fact, this film is fiction. Because the graphic depiction of the effects of a nuclear war may not be suitable for younger viewers, parental discretion is advised.'
