Originally produced for American TV, but shown in cinemas here, this is the most star-studded version of Dickens' famous novel yet made, with such stalwarts as Laurence Olivier and Richard Attenborough in minor roles. The most welcome performances come from Ralph Richardson (Micawber) and Edith Evans' definitive portrayal of Aunt Betsey Trotwood.
