Actor-turned director Jud Taylor has often ventured into deep space, from episodes in the third - and best - Star Trek series to the TV movie Return to Earth, about an Apollo mission. The Disappearance of Flight 412 is a suspense thriller well in keeping with his past achievements. Solid production values are matched by Glenn Ford's performance as a campaigning Air Force officer who refuses to accept the official line over a possible UFO incident, and uncovers a conspiracy. Taylor scores by playing the polished production as a straight documentary using narrator and date and time captions.
