The Enemy Below

During World War Two's battle for supremacy in the South Atlantic, US destroyer commander Robert Mitchum engages his crew in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with German U-boat commander Curt Jurgens. The jaw-clenching tension is made all the more palpable as fear and animosity turn to mutual respect. Splendid naval adventure.

Curt Jurgens and Robert Mitchum are well matched, as opposing skippers who gradually come to respect each other, in this surprisingly tough and tense World War Two submarine chase drama.

With lovely Technicolor, lots of undersea tension and Oscar-winning special effects, it's a winner.
