You and I would be thrown out for behaving as any of the guests do at Don's Party, an Australian film from director Bruce Beresford, who soon after established his international reputation with Breaker Morant. Some of the film is funny - especially the running gag about filming from a cupboard - and some is dramatically valid. The only drawback is that its people are so uniformly awful that, although they bare their souls (and a lot else), they don't reach our emotions. The best performance in the ensemble cast comes from Jeanie Drynan - a brilliant bitter-sweet portrayal.
