The theme of this film - the impact that the Vietnam war makes on a wide diversity of people - makes it necessarily one of those multi-faceted stories involving many characters and, as a consequence, a big cast. Bruce Boxleitner has the principal role as a news cameraman who has accepted an assignment in Saigon. The producer for whom he works (played by Brian Dennehy) has been in Saigon for three years, loves Vietnam, its people, its history and culture and even its language.
