This large-scale, waterbound thriller raises a lot of tension from its plot of seven bombs planted aboard a luxury liner. Richard Harris leads a team to defuse them in a howling gale while, back in England, Supt Anthony Hopkins, whose wife is aboard and whose son inadvertently costs two lives, races to track down the mad bomber. As the ship's social director, Roy Kinnear steals a high-anxiety movie. The film, shot mainly aboard a real ocean liner, was inspired by a 1972 incident when a man claimed he'd planted a bomb on the QE2 and demanded a ransom.
