A French film from the innovative director Luc Basson, whose offbeat thriller Subway was such a success in Britain. This slightly earlier film, brilliantly shot in black and white by Carlo Varini, is an adventure fantasy in the end-of-the-world mould, and represents a triumph for its director of ingenuity and energy over budget. Containing not a single line of dialogue, it won numerous film festival awards for its young director.
