The lanky limbs of the title refer to those attached to the 36-strong Rockettes, a world famous precision dance team, whose 72-leg kickline defies gravity throughout this story of girls fighting for a place in the spotlight. One of these is played pluckily by Maureen Teefy, who earlier bid for Fame in Alan Parker's movie, which spawned an inferior TV series. Director of photography Alan Daviau (he also filmed 'E T') captures the glamour of life at Radio City Music Hall, but director Jerrold Freedman's script glosses the backstage life of the dancers to such an extent that it fatally flaws his film.
