A biting comedy-drama that won Joseph L Mankiewicz Oscars for both his direction and his script about three small-town wives who spend an agonising time trying to guess with which one of their husbands their mutual best friend is running off. Fine ensemble acting too - not forgetting the acid voice of the malicious letter-writer, which belongs to Celeste Holm.
