Hollywood legend Henry Fonda turns in a sensitive, perfectly-honed performance as a spirited but frail old man fighting to stay out of an old folks home. Canada substitutes for Illinois farm country, and the production benefits from the influence of director Delbert Mann at the helm. His best known work is the Oscar-winning Marty, but he specialised in TV movies, first with a series based on literary classics, and more recently with family issues, of which this is one of the better examples.
