Chuckle as you chill to the first of Abbott and Costello's many encounters with things that went bump in the night. This one was made soon after their initial impact on the cinemagoing public when Universal, their studio, was working its newest stars overtime. Bud and Lou find themselves in a haunted house and the laughs (and dead bodies) come thick and fast, with a great supporting cast working hard. Universal ditched the original ending, where Bud and Lou are running a health farm when a dead body (from the haunted house) falls into the room as they ring for dinner, in favour of a grand musical finale. At least they did leave in Lou's famous 'flickering candle' routine.
