This kind of sideshoot from Ripping Yarns is a period comedy about missionary Michael Palin becoming (all too) involved with 'fallen women' in London's dockside. The film is quirkily entertaining, although fatally sentimental at its centre. It never quite seems to know where it's going. Michael Hordern's doddering butler is by far the most joyous thing in the film - forever losing his way in his employers' vast mansion and serving dinner in one of the bedrooms.
