Can any film live up to a title like that? Well, surprisingly, this bizarre and barmy black comedy does. It's the true (yes, really) tale of a Texas mom who plans to get rid of her cheerleader daughter's main rival for a place on the high school team. The film also tells of the wild scenes when the media goes crazy, bidding for the rights to the story. Holly Hunter is marvellous as the mom who will do anything to help her little girl (Frankie Ingrassia) get on to the team. This well-written and well-directed telefilm is one of those rare things - it's as good as it sounds as though it's going to be.
