Not a pleasant experience, this is a disturbing story of a brutal gang of lawless Australian skinheads, which gave an early starring role for Russell Crowe. Writer-director Geoffrey Wright's film doesn't glorify the brutality. Instead, the skinheads, while dedicated to preserving with violence all they consider pure, are shown not only to be mindlessly racist, but also inexplicably and brainlessly destructive. Thought-provoking and shocking, but then so is real life in our own big cities.
