It is hard to credit that the same Matthew Broderick who performed with such dignity in Glory should turn up in this trite piece of nonsense. He stars as Bill Campbell, a fish-out-of-water yuppie who has to put a $140million company takeover bid on hold to rescue his young sister from the clutches of a mad villain. It's the sort of role Michael J Fox or John Candy could perform in their sleep but Broderick sinks without trace. The film was evidently rewritten and reshot repeatedly and it shows. The original title, Welcome to Buzzsaw, was better; the present one all too aptly describes the plight of the cast cut adrift in such crude and unfunny surroundings.
