Although the AIDS awareness message is battered home with a sledgehammer, experienced players Randy Quaid and Eric Stoltz lift this TV movie above the average. Quaid, brother of Dennis, plays a brutish homophobe who contracts AIDS through a blood transfusion. Assigned to a hospice, he is roomed with Harvard-educated homosexual Stoltz. Quaid's anti-gay badinage is batted off by the mild-mannered Stoltz and soon this chalk and cheese pairing begin to bond as they come to terms with their mutual tragedy.
