You can hear the writers' discussions on this one. `Let's do an HIV-Aids story, we'll make the woman who contracts the virus pregnant, put her in a seemingly stable marriage in which she's been monogamous for 10 years, make it clear that she's neither a drug-user or transfusion patient, make her husband a travelling foreign correspondent and see what happens.' With a background in documentaries, director Francois Margolin packs his narrative with educational facts, making the drama, and range of emotions that Nathalie Baye experiences, far too unlikely and contrived. Having said that, Baye makes a good job of running the gamut of feelings, from despair to anger, and her detective work provides some needed humour in an otherwise wasted opportunity.
