A Better Tomorrow II

A Better Tomorrow single-handedly invented the Hong Kong heroic bloodshed action movie. John Woo’s follow-up takes the original’s high-octane hi-jinks and fires them into orbit. Chow Yun Fat is back as the twin brother of his character from the first film, teaming up with gangsters and an ex-cop to seek vengeance on a vicious mob boss. Deliriously ballistic, with a climactic body count turned up to '11', this is firepower nirvana and so good Tarantino referenced it in True Romance.
