Very loose remake of the Gregory Peck comedy The Million Pound Note, itself based on a story by Mark Twain. Paul Rodriguez, who also directed, is the poverty-stricken Juan (the movie's original title was A Million to Juan) who is mysteriously handed the aforesaid number of dollars with the proviso that he must spend the money 'properly' in a month. Edward James Olmos also appears and there's a cameo from funnyman Richard 'Cheech' Marin. The sweet-natured parable that results is pleasant enough but lacks Twain's original bite.
