The pilot story for the popular TV series about a woman doctor (Jane Seymour) in post Civil War Colorado. Seymour shows finesse as Boston medic Dr Michaela Quinn who defies family and friends and answers an ad for a job in Colorado Springs. Taken for a man, she is offered a job. Probably too soft and formula-driven for serious movie minds, this is no better or no worse than the countless medical dramas which have filled the airwaves over the years. The usual western cliches are in abundance and the screenplay supplies the gamut of doctorly struggles for Seymour to surmount, but for younger audiences it should prove fresh and exciting.
