Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtin play a pair of pointy-headed emissaries from the planet Remulak who crash-land in New York's East River. Assuming the aliases Mr and Mrs Conehead (that's one of the wittier jokes), the couple settles in New Jersey.
Plenty of slapstick antics follow in a surprisingly sweet-natured romp whose combination of the outrageous and the mundane provides appealing if very silly entertainment.
A bit like Meet the Applegates without the underlying nastiness, the yarn is brief enough to enable director Steve Barron to maintain a sprightly pace.
The late, overweight Chris Farley and David Spade have supporting roles and there are unbilled cameo turns by Jon Lovitz, Adam Sandler, Seinfeld's Michael Richards, Ellen DeGeneres and Tom Arnold.
