This drama about the love between a mildly retarded man and a twice-divorced woman has the sanction of being based on a true story but goes on for too long and eventually interest is lost. The affair is disapproved of by the man's parents and they do their best to break it up. Treat Williams and Kelly McGillis work well as the Ma-and-Pa-crossed lovers and both manage to maintain our sympathies. It's just a shame this made-for-TV movie drags a bit.
