NYPD Blue fans will definitely want to catch up with this truth-based story. Dennis Franz is brilliantly cast as a dogged journalist who bites off more than he can chew when he sets out on a trail that leads to a particularly complex web of corruption in a small town near New Orleans. Franz is excellent as the hapless newshound who ends up hopelessly entangled in FBI machinations, while the supporting cast also produce good portrayals and director Chuck Bowman racks up the suspense very effectively. The movie looks good, too, with a very authentic-looking newsroom - and well photographed overall.
