Eddie Murphy's back one more time as streetsmart Detroit detective Axel Foley in an underrated sequel that deserved to restore the flagging fortunes of its star.

After his boss is gunned down, Axel tracks the killer to a California theme park.

The fish-out-of-water formula is a bit too well worn, but there are enough thrills and laughs to satisfy, with ace comedy director John Landis surprisingly scoring highest marks on the action front.
