Joe Pesci gives an enfeebled comedy some oomph as a struggling actor who wins fame as an urban vigilante when he strikes back at the thief who's stolen his car radio.
This weird film, mixing serious social comment with attempted laughs, soon drowns in its own good intentions.
The director, Barry Levinson, who scored upmarket hits with Tin Men, Good Morning Vietnam and Rain Man, is desperately struggling here with a script that's neither funny nor serious enough, failing in both categories.
A hideously blonde bewigged Pesci delivers his usual full-throated performance, but in vain.
