Diane Keaton is perfect casting as the pioneer airwoman in this handsome and well-made television biopic. It's not her complete story, though, as the title implies, and only covers the last two years of her life. It starts with her husband (Bruce Dern) hustling up the financing for her round-the-world journey, moving on to the fateful flight itself, during which she and her navigator (Rutger Hauer) disappeared somewhere over the Pacific. Period detail is excellent and the film is well photographed, putting it a couple of notches above the usual made-for-TV fare. Anna Sandor's script is a bit heavy-handed at times with a few unnecessary feminist thrusts, but this is a small quibble. A thoroughly enjoyable adventure drama.
