A black comedy about feuding neighbours that turns vicious in the last few reels. College professor James Woods and wife Kate Capshaw move into new premises, only to find they have inherited the neighbours from hell, played to the hilt by Randy Quaid - even wilder than he was in National Lampoon's Vacation and its sequels - and Lucinda Janney. The film tries to have us on Woods' side but, since the two men come across as equally childish and out-of-touch with reality, it's hard to give him as much of our sympathy as writer Barney Cohen's simplistic teleplay demands.
