Despite Robert Lewis's commendably tight and concentrated direction, this suspense stew gets sillier by the second. Shanna Reed is a glamorous mum, once married to an alcoholic cop (look out, here comes part of the plot), but now remarried to caring Patrick (Pierce Brosnan), about whom she knows very little. Hmm. When they decide to move home, her young son vanishes. Well, who's a poor girl to trust? Reed and Brosnan give restrained, appropriately straight-faced performances in the face of storms, unexplained happenings and a far-fetched script. Ace character actor Terry O'Quinn is as believable as ever as the ex-husband. Don't blame the actors - they give it all they've got.
