Dennis Hopper has a pretty poor track record as a director - but at least he kept his name on this one, unlike his previous effort, Backtrack, when he hid behind a pseudonym. It's a pale imitation of the classic Seventies drama The Last Detail, with voluptuous former Baywatch babe Erika Eleniak, rather than Randy Quaid in the original, being escorted to jail by a rough-talking Navy lifer and his partner. Tom Berenger and William McNamara have the tough task of getting her to the slammer despite her best attempts to escape. What this version lacks is characters with depth and motivation. If you're a Baywatch fan, then you'll probably be pleased with the ample opportunities to eyeball Eleniak's amazing physique. Others will feel decidedly short-changed.
