Small-town girl Shirley MacLaine goes to Manhattan in search of a husband and gets a job working for brothers David Niven and Gig Young in this light romantic comedy. She sets her sights on Young but, naturally, Niven also comes into the equation. Nothing startlingly original here, then, and we've seen this story, or its like, played out a dozen times before. But it's all sparklingly done this time around. Niven is urbane and charming, of course, and MacLaine's performance is top-notch. Undemanding but delightful, this is winningly scripted and glowingly shot in Metrocolor.
