A May-to-December female buddy movie that sees Jessica Tandy in her last starring role, playing an elderly former concert violinist playing opposite Bridget Fonda's frustrated singer-songwriter, on holiday with her husband (Elias Koteas) in Georgia. Meeting by chance, the two women strike up a friendship and on impulse decide to escape Tandy's overbearing son (Maury Chaykin) and Fonda's selfish husband and embark on the long journey to Toronto to see a special performance of the Brahms Violin Concerto. On the way both women learn a lot about life - and meet Tandy's long-lost love, played of course by the star's real-life husband Hume Cronyn. Gentle entertainment that's less syrupy than you might expect.
