Another winner from Phillip Borsos, director of such family gems as The Grey Fox and One Magic Christmas. Yellow Dog, a golden labrador in the 'Old Yeller' tradition, is swept ashore in the wilds of British Columbia after the boat carrying him and his young master capsizes in a storm. Both Jesse Bradford (the boy from King of the Hill) and the dog prove charismatic companions as they confront wild beasts and the elements in their efforts to survive. The film is beautifully made by Borsos, whose work constantly elevates the material and ensures the story grips and moves in all the right places.
