This directionless drama about a young man's aimless wanderings arounf New York was cult director Jim Jarmusch's first feature. The central character, played by Chris Parker wanders through a film that really has no story, so he is simply the main focus of a series of vignettes. Shot on 16mm film on a miniscule budget, the film obviously has rough edges. It's also rather pretentious, but it does show that Jarmusch has ability and a good eye - talents he used to better effect in such movies as Night on Earth and Mystery Train.
