A massive hit on stage, this three-hander about a South American woman haunted by memories of her torture at the hands of an oppressive regime seems slow to develop on screen and has little chance of escaping its stage origiuns. Sigourney Weaver and Ben Kingsley deliver strong performances, but it all drones on a bit and you long for something to be resolved, as the woman (Weaver) holds hostage the man (Kingsley) she believes resaponbsible for her past humiliations, no physical details of which are spared the audience. Stuart Wilson is slightly less effective as the woman's husband and the action teeters on the brink of anti-climax at the end. Contains extreme bad language, violence, nudity and graphic accounts of phsyical torture.
