Hardly seen - certainly over here - comedy spin-off from American TV series Saturday Night Live, starring Al Franken as Stuart Smalley, oddball presenter of a public access TV show. He's a New Age self-help expert, but his beliefs are sorely tested when he tries to save his own dysfunctional family. Sorry to be so hard-hearted, but Franken's little put-upon sad-guy just isn't appealing and there are few laughs in this bitter-sweet comedy, written by the star. Co-stars Laura San Giacomo, Vincent D'Onofrio, Shirley Knight and Harris Yulin show that talent isn't always enough.
