A well-scripted, well-designed adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut's science fiction story set in the year 2053. We're into 1984 territory here: a 'Second American Revolution' has taken place and society has been dumbed down in the name of complete equality. Battling against the tide of mediocrity are dangerously brilliant young student Harrison Bergeron (Sean Astin) and his mother (Linda Goranson), who seek the help of a doctor (Nigel Bennett) in their attempts to conform before it's too late. Your attention will be gripped as the story follows a perilous path through a web of romance and sinister politics to its dramatic conclusion. Complementing the quality production values, the cast do excellent work: Astin and Goranson convince, while Bennett's twisted medical man almost steals the film. Other pluses include Christopher Plummer as the mysterious 'Chief Administrator' and lively cameos from Howie Mandel, Buck Henry, Eugene Levy and Andrea Martin.
