Alexa Vega
Born: 27 August 1988
Where: Miami, Florida
Vega is now a firmly established young actress after making the role of Spy Kid Carmen Cortez her own in three instalments of the series.
She began her Hollywood journey when she was four and her family relocated to California, where her mother got a job with a talent agency.
Inspired by Vega's precocity, her mother brought her to an audition for Burt Reynolds' TV series Evening Shade - and she landed the job.
She made her feature debut in 1994 in the family comedy Little Giants, and two years later portrayed the younger version of Helen Hunt's character in the blockbuster feature Twister.
Vega continued to rack up television and feature credits for another four years before receiving the role which launched her into the spotlight.
That role came in the form of Cortez in Robert Rodriguez's blockbuster action feature Spy Kids.
The film went straight to number one its first weekend and won plaudits for being an intelligent kids' movie.
The sequels Spy Kids 2 : The Island of Lost Dreams and Spy Kids 3D: Game Over consolidated the success of the original.
While planning to remain an actress, Vega also hopes to attend film school and become a writer/director.
Recent work includes the teenage comedy Sleepover with Mika Boorem.
